Dropbox guarda tu información en la nube

Es un servicio de alamacenamiento de archivos en la nube. Se basa en la tecnologÃa de Cloud Computing siendo ésta una aplicación a través de Internet.Registrarse es simple y gratuito, solo se requiere una dirección de correo electrónico válido y asignarle una contraseña.¿Cómo funciona?Una vez registrado el usuario, Dropbox le pedirá que instale una pequeña aplicación en su computador. Se recomienda hacer este proceso en un computador personal donde usted trabaja frecuentemente y donde aloja sus archivos regulares. Esta aplicación permite conectarse a sus carpetas del Dropbox como si fuera una carpeta dentro de su sistema operativo donde uno desea o en “Mis Documentos” si deja la instalación por defecto.
Esta carpeta se presenta con un icono diferente a las demás para representar que realmente no se encuentra en su computador de manera local.Una vez esa carpeta esté disponible se pueden arrastrar o crear archivos dentro de ellas y automáticamente los estará almacenando dentro del espacio en Internet separado por Dropbox para el usuario.
Cuando no se está en un computador personal, o no está instalda la aplicación de Dropbox se puede acceder a los archivos directamente por el sitio web  inciando sesion con la cuenta de correo electrónico y la contraseña registradas.
En esta vista por web se tienen las mismas funcinoalidades que si lo tuviera instalado en el escritorio. Se pueden cargar archivos y descargar archivos. Además tiene en la vista la misma estructura que se tiene cuando está instalado localmente.¿Cuáles son las ventajas de Dropbox?- Dropbox almacena los archivos en la nube, lo que significa que es completamente portable siempre y cuando se cuente con acceso a Internet.
- Dropbox hace respaldo de los archivos alamacenados en él.
- Dropbox tiene control de versiones, es decir que si por error hacemos cambios o eliminamos archivos en el Dropbox podemos “viajar en el tiempo” y recuperara las versiones anteriores o los archivos del dropbox.
- No más virus por las memorias USB pues accediendo al dropbox no pone en riesgo conectar su memoria usb en equipos desconocidos o publicos.
- Dropbox permite compartir carpetas y archivos con otros usuarios de dropbox de tal manera que puedan acceder al mismo espacio y de esta manera trabajar colaborativamente sobre un solo repositorio.
- Dropbox permite almacenar cualquier tipo de archivo.
- Dropbox reduce complejidad a tener diferentes estaciones de trabajo para un mismo usuario y control de versiones entre los archivos guardados en los diferentes discos duros.
- Dropbox permite independizar el equipo de computo de los archivos.
¿Qué espacio hay disponible en dropbox?Una creación básica y gratuita en Dropbox otorga 2GB de almacenamiento. Si desea que su cuenta aumente el espacio, Dropbox tiene un esquema de “invitación”; es decir que cada usuario tiene un código con el que puede invitar a sus amigos. Por cada amigo que se registre en Dropbox y use su código, la cuenta aumentará 250MB.Dropbox también ofrece un servicio pagado por el cual tiene opciones de 50GB o 100GB que puede ser pagado por tarjeta de crédito o usando el servicio PayPal
