Background
The new model for economic development in the country makes it imperative for business organizations to have highly trained, modern leaders who are able to effectively meet the competitive challenges, recognize the need for continuous modernization and have the dynamism implicit in operating in today’s open economy.
Icesi University, conscious of this business need, has placed itself in the vanguard with its program for Top Management which is especially directed to top executives in this field.
Objectives
The Top Management Program seeks to develop strengths and a pro-active attitude toward a strategic, futuristic management style. This program provides tools to facilitate the development of leadership skills for decision making in a global economy.
Length of Program
The program takes twelve months during which there will be two or three 8 hour sessions per month, depending on the academic program, which adds up to a total of 232 hours of class attendance and 40 hours of tutorials. In addition 180 hours of personal work done in teams is required, making a total of 450 hours. Class sessions will be held at ICESI University between the hours of 8 :00 a.m. and 6 :00 p.m. with lunch at the University. This schedule has been designed taking into account the many duties and responsibilities of the participants.
Methodology
To facilitate the learning process, the program methodology is based on the following: Active class discussion, case analysis, team projects with presentations to be made by both professors and participants. In order to achieve this each participant must: Prior to each session prepare the materials assigned and complete the individual work assignment. Attend punctually at least 80% of the class sessions in each module. The program includes an introductory session to explain in detail case methodology.
Acreditation
Icesi University bestows a Top Management Diploma to those participants who attend this program.
Entrance Requirements
Participants should have at least 5 years experience in management positions in which they have demonstrated managerial and leadership qualities. Selection of candidates will be made based on a personal interview in which these criteria will be used.
