Financial Aid

Icesi University has established various mechanisms to recognize academic achievement and give financial aid to students.
•    The University offers its own special financial aid plans and has arrangements with financial entities to help students pay for their education.
•    Students with high academic performance are given the opportunity to be class monitors and to assist professors in the teaching process. For this, they receive partial scholarships and money for books.
•    Students from all majors who meet the University's scholastic requirements each semester.
become members of the Dean's List. In recognition of their efforts, they can receive scholarships from 20 to 50% of their registration costs. To meet the Dean's List requirements, students must maintain a grade average of at least 4.0 out of a possible 5.0.
A number of local companies provide scholarships to students of high academic achievement with economic difficulties. Icesi also grants some types of scholarships using the same criteria.

Alternatives for Paying the Registration Fees
Partial payment to assure a place in the University
Those aspirants admitted for the first semester, in order to assure a place in the University, must pay 20% of the tuition within the first five business days after the date of admission.  The remaining 80% of these fees must be paid by the 15th of December 2006.

Cash Payments
The tuition fees may be paid in cash or by cashiers or business     checks, by deposits in the offices of DAVIVIENDA,     BANCOLOMBIA,     BANCO DE OCCIDENTE and BANCO SANTANDER. In the same manner,     up to 100% of the tuition fees can be paid with a credit card     (MASTER CARD, VISA, DINERS CLUB, and AMERICAN EXPRESS).

Credit with Financial Institutions
The University looks for financial institutions to offer students and their families lines of credit especially for the financing of their studies. The following institutions at present offer educational credit with preferential rates: Banco de Bogotá, Bancolombia, Banco Caja Social, Coomeva, Bansuperior, Banco Granahorrar, Giros and Finanzas, Inversora Pichincha, and Credivalores.  The credit application form of the institution must be answered and delivered with the proper support documents annexed in sufficient time to receive approval before the deadline for paying the registration fees.

The University will receive credit applications until the 7th of December 2006.
The University finances up to 50% of the tuition fees. Credit may be paid in five (5) monthly payments with interests on the balance. The credit must be backed-up with post-dated checks and a promise of payment, signed by the student and a co-signer.  The post-dated checks covering the balance remain in the possession of the University and will be deposited on previously agreed upon dates established in the promise of payment.
