Background
Managers in charge of production processes have a broad responsibility as agents of change with regard to innovation, creativity and the optimization of resources. This is especially true given the complexity of markets where the competition among high quality products is greater each day, especially in countries like Colombia where we are going through the process of opening up the economy.
Objectives
The objective of this program is to provide students with fundamentals and practical tools of modern production technology and management sciences to allow them to become managers of a company’s production processes.
In accordance with this objective, the graduates of this specialization will have the ability to :
· Interact with confidence and effectiveness with managers in other areas of the organization.
· Encourage and direct personnel in production, using motivational techniques for human resource management as well as using perception and conflict solving techniques.
· Design, execute and evaluate continuous improvement programs to insure product quality using statistical techniques of sampling and measurement.
· Plan, organize and control the technology improvement and equipment replacement processes, also the processes affecting the formulation of operational schemes and the functioning of the operational subsystem in the company.
· Generate and use management information for decision making.
Candidate Profile
Specialization in Production Management is directed to professionals with experience in the field of production who desire to improve their knowledge and skills in managing and improving production systems with the purpose of improving the participant’s career path in the company where he presently works or to improve his abilities as an independent businessman responsible for creating employment and wealth for himself and his associates.
Degree Given
Participants who satisfactorily complete all the requirements of this program will be granted the degree of Specialist in Production Management in accordance with Icesi Resolution No. 038 of 1991, which authorizes this program. The degree makes special mention of the Concentrated Study Program which the student attended as part of his electives.
Length of Program
The program takes 18 months.
