The Student Welfare program is made up of an interdisciplinary team that works to build an ideal environment for the development of the educational proposal of the University. It is committed to the formation of values through the generation of participative processes and living together experiences, the social projection of the University and the integration between different areas of the University and its environment. Icesi students are offered an array of programs and activities oriented to physical, psycho-emotional, spiritual, social and holistic development. These programs include recreational sports and competitive events among local, regional and national universities in addition to workshops in art, music, corporal expression, narrative description, imagery and painting. Icesi students are encouraged to join sports teams, rock bands, choral groups, dance, and theater classes. The University continuously presents art exhibits, theatrical works, dance presentations, story telling, cinema and all types of artistic and cultural expression which contribute to human development of the student body. The activities we offer are divided into three areas: culture, sports, and human development.
Area of Culture • Corporal Activities These are activities stimulate the participants in physical, mental and emotional aspects. With the application of diverse techniques, they try to create a different space of relaxation and openness for the Icesi community.
• Movie Club The movie club, where movie classics and the latest films are shown, is a much appreciated activity. • Art Classes These are classes of one semester destined to strengthen the artistic abilities and skills of the participants, thus contributing to their integral formation.
• Artistic Groups These groups allow the integration of the members of the University community in a common objective, strengthening the important values in the professional development of our students and collaborators.
• Artistic Presentations These spaces permit the diffusion of diverse internal and external cultural activities.
• Short Workshops These are classes of short duration where the participants acquire the necessary bases to develop skills in a determined area.
Area of Sports • Physical Conditioning These activities are orientated to the improvement and maintenance of physical and mental health, vaccination days, and talks about nutrition in cases of eating disorders.
• The Supported Sportsperson This is a program designed to support, promote and stimulate the sportsperson who has stood out in practice and competitive sports, in their representation of the University, the department, and the country in regional, national and international competitions.
• Sports Practice In this section, there are many alternatives for sports training such as soccer, volleyball, kung fu, etc.
• Tournaments The current dates of tournaments and sports events of the present semester are shown.
Area of Human Resources • Academic Support This program is designed especially to contribute to the achievement of the best results in the first semesters of the University, by facilitating the transition between high school and the university.
• Student Counseling This consists of individual attention offered by people specialized in attending themes of a personal, family, or social nature.
• Prevention of Alcohol Use This program tries to generate in the interior of the University a culture of prevention with respect to the use and abuse of alcohol and drugs, by identifying risk factors which permit the early detection of abusers.
• Monitoring Programs This program is designed as medium of recognition of students with good academic development through a scholarship awarded in exchange for labor as an academic or office monitor.
• The Social Project of the University This project tries to consolidate the University’s response to the different problems of the region and to articulate formation and service opportunities which correspond to the profile of our graduates, to the commitments of the University with the region, and the increasing demands of the local, national, and international environment.
Services Our team also gives different services that make your stay in the University comfortable and enjoyable. Among these are:
• Locker rental This is a semester service which is given through a previous contract and payment of the corresponding fees. The service is directed towards students and professors.
• Infirmary This is a permanent first aid service rendered by a nurse’s aide and an institutional agreement with an emergency medical service (COOMEVA).
• Lost and Found The reception of lost objects and/or those found in different areas of the University, are taken to the Sports Office, which is responsible for their registry. This office receives the objects and returns them to their owners once they are identified.
• Film Loans The loaning of films allows the Icesi community access to the film library generated from the presentation of different programmed film clubs.
