En especial, nuestra estrategia de mejoramiento gen\u00e9tico basada en la explotaci\u00f3n del potencial gen\u00e9tico de los cruzamientos interespec\u00edficos entre las dos especies cultivadas de arroz, <em>Oryza sativa<\/em> L. (arroz asi\u00e1tico) y <em>O.\u00a0glaberrima<\/em> Steud. (arroz africano) para identificar nuevos genes que confieran tolerancia a condiciones de estr\u00e9s o contribuyan a incrementar el rendimiento del cultivo. Una de las mayores limitantes para la explotaci\u00f3n de la diversidad gen\u00e9tica existente en el g\u00e9nero <em>Oryza<\/em>, y por lo tanto para la aplicaci\u00f3n de nuestra estrategia, es la barrera de esterilidad entre especies. Nuestro grupo ha desarrollado un nuevo m\u00e9todo que busca construir <em>puentes inter-espec\u00edficos <\/em>entre <em>O. sativa<\/em> y <em>O. glaberrima<\/em>, con el fin de facilitar la introgresi\u00f3n masiva de alelos de la especie africana en la especie asi\u00e1tica, el cual describiremos en detalle. Finalmente, tocaremos el tema de la b\u00fasqueda de genes y de la aplicaci\u00f3n de los marcadores moleculares en los programas de mejoramiento gen\u00e9tico, tomando como ejemplo el trabajo que hemos realizado para mejorar la resistencia al virus de la hoja blanca.<\/p>\n<p><a
