Annual awards ranging from\u00a0$3000 &#8211; $5000 are made to research and conservation initiatives involving\u00a0animals and their habitat or programs involving local people that directly\u00a0affect animal conservation. The primary investigator must be a neotropical\u00a0resident and the project impact must be within the neotropics (Mexico,\u00a0Central America, South America and the Caribbean). The Scott Neotropical\u00a0Fund supports the work of neotropical residents in their countries through\u00a0direct project support, training opportunities, and\/or technical assistance\u00a0that will continue to benefit the local people, wildlife and habitats of the\u00a0neotropics into the future.<\/p>\n<p>Projects submitted for funding should be sound research proposals with clear\u00a0conservation implications.<\/p>\n<p>Examples include:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Species, natural history and ecology studies<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; National park inventories<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Surveys and biological assessments<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Initiatives involving local people that directly impact animal\u00a0conservation<\/p>\n<p>Consideration will also be given to projects in captive situations in the\u00a0neotropics if the project contributes to the conservation of a species in\u00a0the wild.<\/p>\n<p>For APPLICATIONS AND GUIDELINES:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.clemetzoo.com\/conservation\/grants\/scott\/\">http:\/\/www.clemetzo o.com\/conservation\/grants\/ scott\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Scott Neotropical Fund provides funds to deserving students and\u00a0scientists living and working in Latin America.
