Our Focus

The Bachelor in Basic Primary Education program at Universidad Icesi proposes understanding, committed and skilled professionals who seek better ways to pay special attention to the comprehensive development of children. To this end, the Bachelor program offers scenarios for understanding the different dimensions of development to nurture suitable and innovative educational initiatives and to take on a leadership role in students’ learning.

Institutional Accreditation

In 2015, the Ministry of National Education extended Icesi University the High-Quality Institutional Accreditation until 2021. This, in recognition to the University´s ongoing commitment in maintaining high standards of quality in the development of the functions of training, research and social outreach, as well as, administrative support work within the region and the country.

  • The Graduate student will continue to pursue training in programs offered by the School of Education Sciences.
  • Students in the program will complete training practices starting the second semester to help them develop and apply skills in real environments.

The program is directed at students with a high intellectual curiosity, creativity, and that seek academic excellence, with the skills to analyze their surroundings and sensitivity toward diversity.

In addition, they should recognize great skills, sensitivities, and potentials in children, their individual development paces, and the very high possibility of offering educational suggestions that may contribute to a positive transformation in their lives.

Graduate Profile

The graduate of Bachelor in Basic Primary Education at Universidad Icesi is a professional in education who can identify and pay special attention to the linguistic, cognitive, aesthetical, affective, and social development in children. This knowledge will allow the graduate to create experiences for the learning and development of communicative, scientific, expressive, social, and emotional skills through the integration of pedagogy, curricular, didactic, psychological, disciplinary, and research knowledge.

  • Leaders in educational institutions (Principal, coordinator, director, etc.)
  • Coordinators for special projects to further development, coexistence, community integration, etc.
