The key to research creation is that professionals use, mold and rethink methods and practices to reformulate old and new theoretical disputes, from a critical perspective. The program is an academic space for the training of professionals dedicated to the production of knowledge, which strives for continuous progress in their intellectual, technical and scientific development. With a multidisciplinary approach, the Master of Law - Research combines methodologies of Law with quantitative and qualitative methods from the social sciences. This approach ensures a much richer learning. To achieve these aims, the program relies on professors of high academic quality, most of whom have completed their doctoral studies, capable of guiding and directing high-impact research.
The Master of Law - Research has the backing of the Departments of Legal, Social and Political Studies of Universidad Icesi, which have a group of first-level professors with an interdisciplinary, teaching and research perspective in different knowledge areas (legal, social and political).
Finally, the School of Law and Social Sciences of the Icesi University has the Center for Legal, Social and Humanistic Interdisciplinary Studies (Centro de Estudios Interdisciplinarios Jurídicos, Sociales y Humanistas - CIES), a Research Center with two research groups (Precedente and Nexos) classified in the highest categories of Colciencias. Each of these groups has broad lines of research on issues of local, regional and national interest, in addition to having their own indexed journals (CS and Precedente). The program also has the support the Learning Resources Center, (Centro de Recursos para el Aprendizaje – CREA); the Center for Afrodiasporic Studies (Centro de Estudios Afrodiaspóricos – CEAF); the Group for Public Interest Litigation of Icesi (Grupo de Acciones Públicas de Icesi – GAPI); the Ethnographic Laboratory and the Laboratory of Transnational Processes.
