Universidad Icesi offers a Master’s Degree in Comprehensive Care for Early Childhood with the awareness that early childhood is a moment of significant development in human life in which the foundations are laid for future well-being, for lifelong learning and for reducing social, economic and emotional gaps. The degree’s aim is to contribute to the reflection and enrichment of the professional role of people who, because of vocation, participate in the design, implementation and monitoring of comprehensive care for children living and developing in Latin America

The program seeks to transform the practices of agents of education, health, public policy designers or people who, through their professional practice, are linked with comprehensive early childhood care. To achieve this, the program offers the support of teachers / tutors and a diverse set of learning experiences contextualized with the daily professional activities of the students of the master's degree.

Objective

The objective of this master's degree is for students to design, implement and evaluate innovative intervention strategies that enhance the development of children, taking into account the legal requirements and public policies in early childhood care in their country.

Target Audience:

Education, psychology or health professionals interested in obtaining training to implement educational and care strategies that guarantee the right to comprehensive development in early childhood.

Other professionals with a vocation and experience in comprehensive early childhood care may be considered upon admission. This decision will be based on their experience.

Graduate Profile

The graduate will design, implement and evaluate strategies to enhance child development, on the basis of various theories of development, the legal environment and public policies in early childhood care in their country.

The graduate will have developed competences to perform in different fields of action, such as:

  • Pedagogical advice in the design and implementation of educational programs for early childhood.
  • Consulting in public and private educational institutions and / or in state entities that promote the comprehensive child development.
  • Design and evaluation of educational policies in early childhood.

Candidate profile

A candidate of this master's degree must be an education, psychology or health professional who wants to improve their educational, care, administrative and / or public policy design practices, because it is through these practices that the right to comprehensive development in early childhood is guaranteed.

Candidates from other professions must have experience related to comprehensive early childhood care and must be motivated to learn how their work can be improved based on the knowledge they will obtain in the master's degree.

Methodology

The master's degree is 100% online. Students and teachers interact in learning environments created in an online education platform (LMS). Each course is configured with weekly learning activities, of a problem-solving nature, that promote interaction and collaborative learning among peers and teachers / tutors. Additionally, within the development of each course, students will apply their empirical learning gained in their professional field. Assessment is based on products resulting from the work of the participants during the weekly learning activities. Students will take two courses simultaneously and the pedagogical proposal requires students to dedicate an average of 10 hours per course per week, i.e. a total of 20 hours per week. In summary, the pedagogical principles acting as the foundation of the design of each course are: experimental and collaborative learning.
