The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) measures the value at constant prices of final goods and services produced within the territory of the country in a given period. GDP is important because it is a way of measuring the size of the economy and its performance; however, it is important to note that GDP is not an indicator of quality of life or general welfare of a country.
The quarterly GDP report is published in Colombia at the Center for Research in Economics and Finance (Cienfi), in order to publicize through economic control panels behavior of this indicator. This report uses information from the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE).
The report aims to present relevant information on monitoring the growth rate of real GDP in Colombia, in order to provide a tool to monitor the overall performance of the economy.
