Matileo is filled with different activities every single day. On Tuesday for example, many future Icesistas, had their fun first approach to mathematics. Through various fun challenges and activities that were carried out during the day, we showed them that in Icesi mathematics are considered as a language that allows us to connect and comprehend different realities. The new students were able to understand that even if sometimes math can be scary, all they need is enthusiasm and someone to help you connect with them. Luckily, in Icesi we can count on the teachers and monitors to be there for us and guide us through the whole process. Today it is languages day and we are talking about the first times in which we have faced different situations. Given the subject, we spoke with some of the attendees in order to hear about their first days in Matileo.
Isabella Bedoya is a student enrolled in the music program and on her first day, she told us that during this past days, she’s had the opportunity of meeting people and their different points of view. Matileo for her, is the nicest way of transitioning from school to the university and she invites all of those who still have their doubts, to join us on the other days. Isabella says that she thinks of this as a necessary space to get to know the classes she will be taking, the teachers and the monitors.
Another great input, was from Juan Esteban Benitez, a Med student who told us that just like we announced it, they are not alone because the Matileo team has constantly been there for them, every step of the way. He told us that he chose the words destiny and future as a representation of his entry to Icesi. Juan also said that even though he was a little disappointed to start his college life online, he got really excited when he saw how the teachers and monitors, handled the platforms and tools available. He now sees this semester as an opportunity to take advantage of the moment and learn.
To conclude, on Matileo’s behalf, we extend the invitation to all of those who haven’t joined us yet, to come and learn with us in Matileo. This is an opportunity that allows you to play and have fun while getting to know the uses and virtues of each of the areas: Mathematics, English and Language. Just like Juan Esteban said, this is an opportunity to interact with the educational team, students and his classmates who come from different parts of Colombia.
