Vías Férreas
Una gran noticia para el comercio exterior colombiano es la entrada en operación del nuevo concesionario del sistema férreo en la región del Suroccidente colombiano: Ferrocarril del Oeste S.A., una empresa compuesta por inversionistas del Valle del Cauca, de Antioquia y de Bogotá. Los accionistas de la nueva sociedad pertenecen al sector portuario, logístico, metalmecánico y férreo de Colombia. Esto permitirá a los empresarios colombianos acceder a este medio para el transporte de sus mercancías para realizar procesos de importación y exportación. Además, permitirá usar el modo de transporte multimodal, el cual trae ventajas en materia de logística para los empresarios. Es por esta razón que, para el Consultorio de Comercio Exterior de la Universidad Icesi – Icecomex, resulta importante aprovechar esta oportunidad para informar sobre el tema.
¿Cómo se usa del sistema ferroviario en Colombia para el transporte de mercancías?
El sistema ferroviario en Colombia es el segundo sistema de transporte más utilizado, en el 2007 se transportó el 25,4% del total de la carga de la nación. Colombia cuenta con dos redes férreas, la del Pacífico y la del Atlántico. Dentro de los productos más transportados en tren entre la ruta de Antioquia a la Costa Atlántica se encuentran el carbón que moviliza 52.829.000 toneladas, seguido del cemento con 218.320 toneladas. Otros productos que se transportan son el acero, chatarra y granos de café.
En las exportaciones el café y el carbón son los productos que más utilizan el sistema ferroviario, en cuanto a las importaciones se encuentran los granos. Dentro de la línea férrea del Pacífico se está transportando insumos de papel, productos químicos, repuestos, maíz, azúcar y materias primas. Empresas como Drummond Ltda., movilizaron en el año 2007 un total de 22.760.365 toneladas y la concesión del Pacífico movilizó un total de 84.424 toneladas en el 2007.
Colombia cuenta con un sistema férreo de 3.458 Km de los cuales 1.322 Km se encuentran inactivos. Las dos redes han estado en proceso de concesiones alrededor de 30 años, con el fin de rehabilitar, conservar, mantener y operar el sistema.
Lo que se busca es que el ferrocarril se una a otros medios de transporte especialmente el marítimo para que haya una mayor dinámica en el flujo de mercancías.
¿Cuáles son las ventajas y desventajas que tiene el sistema ferroviario?
Una de las principales ventajas que ofrece el sistema ferroviario es que permite transportar mayores volúmenes de carga en largos recorridos, pues se puede movilizar en un solo viaje hasta 40 cuarenta contenedores y los camiones solo uno, es decir, que la capacidad de un carro de ferrocarril (60 toneladas) es un 71% mayor que la de un tractocamión (35 toneladas) en Colombia. Además, su bajo costo de operación, teniendo en cuenta que los precios de los combustibles en Colombia incrementa el valor de los fletes. Es un transporte muy flexible, pues en el se puede transportar mayor variedad de mercancías; estos equipos tienen una vida útil mas larga y tienen un impacto ecológico menor en el momento de construcción y de operación. También, la siniestralidad es muy baja siendo superado solamente por el transporte aéreo. En varios países, como los europeos el sistema férreo es utilizado para el transporte de mercancías en trayectos largos, esto con el fin de agilizar los procesos de intercambio comercial y ser más competitivos. Dentro de las desventajas se tiene que tener en cuenta que los trenes tienen que operar sobre vías perfectas y no puede tomar vías alternas como lo puede hacer un tractocamión. Además, no permite el transporte puerta a puerta para productos diferentes al carbón, graneles y contenedores líquidos.
¿Qué beneficios tendría Colombia con la reactivación del sistema ferroviario?
Dentro de los beneficios que tendría Colombia por reactivar el sistema ferroviario es que sería un país más eficiente en el transporte de carga, pues se podrían movilizar mayores volúmenes a menores costos, lo que le permitiría a las empresas colombianas ser más competitivas. Además, se reduciría el tiempo que se emplea en el transporte de la mercancía. En materia de logística, los empresarios pueden utilizar el sistema de transporte multimodal, es decir, que pueden sacar sus mercancías de un puerto hasta un centro de transbordo, en este caso un puerto seco, que es una terminal intermodal interior que se encuentra bajo un control aduanero, donde la carga se pondría en otros medios de transporte para llegar a su destino final. También, tiene como ventaja que los empresarios solo utilizarían un único operador, conocido como operador de transporte multimodal y un solo contrato para la movilización de la mercancía. Teniendo en cuenta que puertos como el de Buenaventura siempre se ven afectados por desastres naturales y lo dejan incomunicado, el tren sería una opción adicional para el transporte de sus mercancías. Dentro de los proyectos que tiene Ferrocarril del Oeste S.A. es crear un puerto seco en Buga, el cual se encontraría conectado al puerto de Buenaventura. Por último, este sistema ayudaría a no depender tanto de las carreteras, lo que permitiría un mayor flujo de vehículos por estas vías y al ser competitivo ayudaría a la regulación de las tarifas de los fletes.

por ejemplo a mi me gusta usar este servicio para el transporte de medicinas, mas que todo lo que son suplementos para las padecientos sexuales, por ejemplo Buy Generic Viagra y otras de este tipo, creo que aunque sea un poco lento es muy seguro usar el tren como medio de transporte de mercancia.
