The School of Business and Economic Sciences at Icesi University, accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), distinguishes itself for its contribution to the development of human character and the professional education of leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs. Graduates of the School possess critical and strategic thinking, global perspectives and the necessary knowledge to excel in the labor market, not only for their skills, but also for their outstanding professional achievements in administration, economics, accounting, finance, international business, international marketing and advertising.
The professionals who graduate from the undergraduate and postgraduate programs of the School can understand and intervene competently in the organizational management of companies and in their innovative and sustainable development, even in the most complex environments. Their up-to-date and relevant knowledge allows them to adequately contribute to their organizations, distinguishing themselves by their ethical and socially responsible behavior and for their values of justice, honesty, tolerance and respect for others and the environment.
In addition to the five undergraduate programs and the three master's degrees specializing in marketing, finance and economics, the School offers an MBA that is accredited internationally by the Association of MBA's (AMBA); this association, like the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) that accredited the School recently, are international entities that recognize in their mandate the fulfillment of high quality standards in the training of future professionals.
We train managers and entrepreneurs who are characterized by their strategic and innovative thinking, their global perspective and their ethical behavior.

Accounting and Financial Studies
The department of accounting and financial studies at Icesi University is the academic unit in charge of the financial and accounting areas, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
It is responsible for the coherence and relevance of the contents in the courses of study and the application of the Icesi model of active learning in the courses under its responsibility.
At the research level, the department concentrates its efforts on lines of investigation led by its professors and researchers. The department is currently working on the following research areas:

Financial markets.
Tax shields and performance.

The research team explores the distinctive features of business investment, financing and business control practices, to contribute to the development and competitiveness of the region and the country.

Head of the Department of Economy
The department of economics at Icesi University offers the economic courses required by the different undergraduate programs that the University has. Given the high number of economic subjects in the programs of economics and international business, and the economics program with an emphasis on public policies, there is a close link between the programs and the department.

The research team generates knowledge from the application of the scientific method to the national realities found in the economic and financial fields. It offers a portfolio of services that includes demand forecast models, situational analysis and economic measurement.
department websiteThe school members participate in three research groups that have achieved the recognition of Colciencias, the Colombian government agency that encourages, registers and reports quality research that is carried out in universities and research centers. The publications, research plans, as well as the members of the group can be consulted in the register of research groups of Colciencias.
The school has a policy that all members must belong to one of the research groups, and their resumes must remain updated in the Colciencias database.
