Icesi lawyers are recognized within their field as professionals with solid research skills, able to develop concrete knowledge in any area of law, knowledgeable about the issues at the forefront of the discipline, and possessing a clear, critical eye.

Institutional Accreditation

In 2015, the Ministry of National Education granted Icesi University the renewal of the High Quality Institutional Accreditation until 2021. This is a recognition of the permanent commitment of Icesi within the region and the country, to maintain high standards of quality in the development of the functions of training, research and social outreach, as well as administrative support work.

  2. The GAPI - Icesi Law Group for the Public Interest - is one of the strongest law clinics in the country.
  3. The program has professors with high levels of academic training: 90% of our permanent faculty have completed doctoral studies, 10% have studied at the Master’s level.
  4. Opportunity to complete a dual degree with other Icesi programs: 10% of law students study programs such as: International Economics and Business, Business Management, Political Science, Sociology and Anthropology.
  5. The program uses contemporary law teaching resources: mock trials, role playing, case law, case studies, Problem Based Learning (PBL), collaborative learning.

  2. Graduates work for the private and public sectors and for the High Courts, while also completing their post-graduate studies.
  3. Our students have access to a courtroom a teaching tool for argumentative techniques, orality, and debate.
  4. Opportunity to join groups and research incubators with professors and opportunities for publication in the legal journal “Precedente”.
  5. Extensive opportunities to spend semesters at law schools abroad. For example: The University of Wurzburg in Germany, the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil, the University of Helsinki in Finland, and more.
  6. Students have the opportunity to participate in national and international legal missions that allow them to learn about legal management, interact with public officials in charge of various institutions, and learn about how they operate and their role in society.
  7. In 2015, the National Accreditation Council gave the law program a six-year High-Quality Accreditation through Resolution 7279 of 2015.

Candidate profile

A candidate interested in Universidad Icesi's Law program must be curious about the origin and functioning of legal institutions, as well as the policies that make up the national and global scenarios. He/she must also have the ability to take a critical and reflective look when approaching study. Likewise, the applicant must be willing to acquire research and argumentation skills to elaborate ethical and reasoned solutions to legal problems and contribute positively to the political and social change in our country.
