Political Science examines power relations and, particularly, how they define decision-making processes. Political scientists analyze the relationship between and state institutions, the establishment of social order and how social groups seek to enact their preferences through the political system. The discipline also explores how states construct and defend their interests in different international scenarios, such as intergovernmental organizations.

They serve as strategic advisors in businesses, offer strategic political analysis through specialized consulting firms, conduct applied research in think tanks, and pursue teaching and research at the university level.
